Selling beats, making money...
Well, the shopping beats part is true. Here's a what-I-did-on-my-sorta-spring-break video outlining my trip to New York. Features appearances from Shamoney XL, Riggs Morales, E. Beasley and others. That's ill, I didn't even know you took that trip. So was this trip specifically for selling beats? I've got the feeling Kempster's done the hand puppet before..
Yeah, it was specifically for the meetings. Kemp's done a lot of things with his hands that he may or may not regret (but probably should)>
I like the video. Just a few days I decided that I want to go out to New York & Do the same thing. How did you set up the meetings with the A&R? & what instruction would you give me to be able to do the same thing?
I went through musicplacements, but I had a lot of contacts via my radio ties. You really just have to know people in order to get numbers and e-mail addresses, and I'm lucky to be affiliated with marketing and promo reps from various labels. However, the internet is one big directory of industry contacts as long as you search the right way. I suggest talking with artists, managers, a&r's and possibly other producers on myspace, facebook, twitter, etc. It's always worth a shot.
